William Jefferson Clinton was the first Democratic President in six decades to be elected twice – first in 1992 and then in 1996. Under his leadership, the country enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history, including the creation of more than twenty-two million jobs.

After leaving the White House, President Clinton established the William J. Clinton Foundation with the mission to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence.

H. E. José Manuel DURÃO BARROSO

President of the European Commission

José Manuel Durão Barroso took office as President of the European Commission in November 2004. He was re-elected for another five-year term by the European Parliament in September 2009.

Mr. Barroso served as head of the International Relations Department of Lusíada University in Portugal from 1995 to 1999, and was a visiting professor at Georgetown University in the United States from 1996 to 1998.
