Hemant Kanoria is the Chairman and Managing Director of SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, one of India’s leading infrastructure financing institutions with an asset base of USD 11 billion. Under his leadership, SREI became the first Indian Infrastructure Financing Institution to be listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in 2005. After consolidating its position as one of the leading players in the equipment finance business, SREI further expanded its operations in the infrastructure sector through investments in power, telecom, roads, ports and industrial parks.
Hemant had also been at the helm of various trade organizations and chambers. He had been the Chairman of FICCI National Committee on Infrastructure, member of the FICCI National Executive Committee, member of the Steering Committee of Tata Energy Research Institute’s Repository of Environmental Activities and Technology, and council member of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC). Some of his former associations have been as President of the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, member of board of governors of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM – Kolkata), and member of the Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee (Government of India).
