The SCORPIONS for
MUSIC FOR DIALOGUE
In line with the
CGDC’s vision of encouraging dialogue to create political change, the
CGDC is honored to present the award “Music for Dialogue” to “The Scorpions”.
The Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation –
CGDC’s mission is to gather the most influential individuals in the field of politics, business and humanitarian action in order to create dialogue across boundaries, ethnicities, cultures and vocations. Its goal is to generate a powerful “Wind of Change” and find solutions to the most pressing global problems.
The founders and President of the Center for Global Dialogue and Cooperation –
CGDC, are honored to nominate The Scorpions for the
CGDC Award 2012
“MUSIC FOR DIALOGUE”
for their exceptional contribution to promoting world peace and understanding through music. They hope that the Scorpions’ unstinting pursuit of universal ideals through art will provide a model and an inspiration to all those who take part in the 2nd
CGDC Meeting.
Klaus Meine, who will collect the award on behalf of the band, is “The Scorpions” lead singer and writes most of the group’s lyrics. His words to the song “Wind of Change” came to symbolize the re-unification of Germany. In 2005, “Wind of Change” was voted “Song of the Century” by viewers of Germany’s
ZDF television channel.
Klaus Meine, who was born in Hannover, joined the Scorpions in 1970 and has since helped make the band one of the most popular rock groups in history. Their music has sold over 100 million recordings.
