CGDC President Stoyanov Participates in the South
Caucasus Forum on Inclusion in Azerbaijan

The Nizami Ganjavi International Center, a cultural, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the memory of Azerbaijan poet, Nizami Ganjavi, and the Club de Madrid, the largest global forum of democratically elected former Presidents and Prime Ministers, co-organized the first
Club de Madrid South Caucasus Forum on Inclusion – Promoting Women’s Empowerment and Building Shared Societies in Azerbaijan. The gathering aimed to share the experience and vision of the Members of the Club de Madrid and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center with numerous stakeholders from Azerbaijan and the region to provide them with concrete recommendation, leadership counsel, and support in facing the challenges of democratic development, particularly inclusion of minorities, gender equality and internally displaced persons, social and political empowerment.
H.E. Petar Stoyanov took part in a panel on interreligious and intercultural dialogue. He also held meetings with Prime Minister Wim Kok – President of the Club de Madrid, Club de Madrid Members Jorge Quiroga – President of Bolivia (2001 – 2002) and Jennifer M. Shipley – New Zealand’s first female PM, as well as Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and President of the Republic of Latvia (1999-2007) Vaira Vike-Freiberga. During the forum, President Stoyanov had a brief informal communication with the President of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva discussing the opportunities for long-term cooperation between the
CGDC and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
